My Journey
Throughout this term my journey towards optimal health in mind, body and spirit has brought me to a new view of life and how we can experience happiness and wholeness. I have enjoyed the many exercises that we have been asked to do throughout this term; so it is truly hard to pick just two. But I will try and narrow it down. I would start with the subtle mind practice this helped me bring my mind to a sense of clearness and helped me realize I have control over my thoughts and the unnecessary chatter that sometimes fills my mind; and the process in which I can practice to have control over my mind and thoughts. The next one would be the loving kindness practice, this is one of my favorites because it is not just about oneself but the benefits you can express towards others and this gives you a sense of happiness to feel that you not only wish well for yourself and your loved ones but also for those that you do not know. I hope to implement these exercises into my life as my journey carries me forward. Thanks for reading! ~Kat~

Aesclepian Healing
Hi Everyone, This week's exercise was easier for me than most, I was able to focus on my "spiritual" mentor we a sense of clam and reality. I was surprised I was able to accopmplish this because I have a lot going on right not and my mind is full of needles chatter. But maybe this was something I truly needed. The quote saying "One cannot lead another where one has not gone" has been a saying that I try to live by myself. It's like the saying about walking so many miles in someone else's shoes. How can we preach something we have not done, by not being in the circumstance ourselves. How can we ask others to go where we ourselves have not traveled? I think people in the profession of getting others well have an obligation to do as they preach; for they need to set an example to their patients a well as understanding what difficulty one may have with a certain practice or procedure. I can implement psychological and spiritual growth in my own life by research, practice and patience and apply what I have learned in this class to eventually get me to optimal health in body, mind and spirit. For only with understanding and practicing the steps to wholeness can we truly achieve optimal health. Thanks for reading! Have a great week! ~Kat~

Universal Loving Kindness
Hi All! As I did the loving kindness exercise I realized how close my daily prayers are to this. And how I wish more people could apply this to their own daily lives. We must all remember others whether we no them or not and pray for their suffering to end, and complete wholeness, and good health, happiness. I think if all people felt this way to all kind this world would be a better place to live in. As I did my assessment I was not surprised about the areas in which I need to work on, but I am a work in progress, so there are always areas that can be improved upon. For the last year I have worked more on my spiritual self more than I have in along time, and knowing because of what happened to me awhile back I would not be here if it was not for God and his loving kindness to us and how he does not want us to suffer. I think if we could all be God like we could understand others sufferings and needs and be more compassionate and understanding. I will always continue on with my spiritual journey. But there is also other areas that were put on hold during my "illness", and those include my eating habits and my physical activity and healing my mind. Because of what I have been through in this past year I know there is nothing that I am not capable of doing through God's grace and my willpower. So to improve the areas I need to work on I can implement a better overall diet and add an exercise regime to improve my overall well being. Thanks for reading! Everyone have a great week! ~Kat~

Hi All!
The sublte mind activity for me was extremely relaxing, I did find at time my mind had a tendency to wander but I was able to bring back to my focus point. I think this exercise was helpful to realize how often our minds have a tendeny to get off of track; but through patience and training we are able to focus are minds back to where they need to be. This exercise also gave me time to reflect on my own issues of a over busy thinking mind and what I can do to bring it to the state I need it to be at any time or place. I believe that the sublte mind and loving kindness exercises have a few things in common one is the concentration of breathing and the other is to clear your mind of unwanted thoughts. They are different because the lovingkindness one has you concentrate more on feelings and how you should perceive others and how you want the best for others; whereas the subtle mind practice is more about you and how your mind works and ways to clear it of unnessary chatter.
