Loving Kindness

Hi All!

This indeed was a enjoyable relaxing excercise.  I truly found it inlighting to help us understand how through a mental state of awareness can we not only send out good vibes to those we love and care about but we can also send out kindness, love and overall good health and wellness to those we do not know.  This is omething I try to do in my prayers on a everday basis, I pray for all those who need help in this world, I pray for all those who volunteer their time and I pray for all those in hospitals who need to get well.  I also pray that all who need assistance are treated with dignity and the respect that they should be.  This excercise left me with a sense of peace and understanding that we have to think about others and wish them optimal health and wellness whether we know them or not.  This is a practice I will continue working.  I believe we can train our minds to stay in a positive mind setting and through this it can benefit all we come in contact with.  We have to understand if we are feeling negative thoughts this comes across to others as well, and this could actually change how they perceive things.  I think if I try to stay in a positive state by keeping negative thoughts out of my mind I can truly be on the way to psycholocal health.

  1. Hi Kathy,

I am really glad you found this exercise to be relaxing. There is only a few people I have met in my life who can give that type of positive energy off of love and caring and you can just tell that they are real, honest, good people. Those people I have kept in my life because they have taught me so much about love and life. It's a good feeling to share those feelings with other people I love and other people in the world that I don't know. Did you show anyone this type of loving-kindness this week at all? Maybe at work? In the store?

I think thinking about others is the one thing we over look sometimes and are only worried about ourselves. Now I see caring for others is more important than I ever imagined. Draining out the negative and bringing in the positive has made my life and my days so much brighter.

    Thanks for sharing!
    Amanda

  2. Hi Kathy,
I agree with you that this was indeed a relaxing and enjoyable exercise. At first, I will admit, I was caught off guard when we were told to imagine our suffering loved ones. As the exercise continued and we were directed to essentially take in that suffering for them, I began to feel good about it. As you mentioned, the concept of prayer is not much different. Training the mind is as important as prayer since happiness is acheived by our outlook on the situation.
    Have a good night!

  3. Hi Kathy,

Have you ever met someone that you instantly take to? I have. As you said, it comes from the vibes we emanate. Good thoughts draw people like a magnate and they just want to be in your presence. It brings happiness to them as it does to you. I believe that prayer and awareness go hand in hand. You experience a feeling of love, understanding and wisdom. That's a great combination, wouldn't you say? Have a great week!
